The Welcome Table: Notes from the Teaching Field

Ah, the first day of school. Well to get me back into the swing of things I wanted to share a few cards and letters I received from the kids last school year (it helps me to remember all the cuteness which somewhat ameliorates the pain of the end of summer). I also did this at the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year too, so I guess it is now a tradition...

Just like the welcome table of the song, we're all friends in kindergarten...

 

This one letter is from a girl, who then was in first grade, so I know longer taught her (I only saw her at lunchtime recess). Glad I was still "osum" (awesome) in her eyes!

These two drawings both show me teaching math to disembodied kindergarten heads on the rug (love my spider-like limbs on the second drawing)...
